We are a commercial agency and supply models to the advertising industry. We take on models from 3 years old with no upper limit.
No! Source Models do not charge models for joining our agency. We take a commission from each job, details of which can be seen on our model terms. We do charge web fees of £50.00 which is taken in 2 installments from the first 2 paid jobs and allows for unlimited resizing of pictures for as long as you are with us.
In our experience reputable agencies do not charge joining fees, we would be vary wary of any agency that charges up front fees.
Every model needs a portfolio, as you get more experienced you will build a portfolio of 'work' which can be used to send to clients. In the first instance you will need a selection of different shots that can be shown to potential clients. It is very important to get the right shots that match the type of work you want. We are a commercial agency so your portfolio needs to reflect that type of work.
Be wary of agencies that agree to take you on ONLY if you pay for a portfolio of pictures with them. We do not sell portfolios @ Source, preferring to recommend photographers we feel are the best at what they do. We would recommend having a look at www.themodelcamp.co.uk who we believe produce excellent commercial portfolios.
We don't believe kids need to spend hundreds of pounds on portfolios as long as they can provide good quality digital photos in a variety of poses.
We receive over 100 applications to join our agency and are always on the look out for new faces especially Character models with unusual features and/or skills. Our books are always open for the right people and we ask you to submit pictures via this link. We aim to come back to everybody that applies. We will call you if we need to discuss your application further and talk through the next steps, failing that you should receive an e-mail from us within 7 days.
There a lot of scams in the modeling world most of which can be avoided with a degree of common sense. Most companies that charge up front fees should be avoided, at the very least ask what you get in return and ask WHY they charge. Don't hand over any money in Hotels or Shopping Centers to so called 'agencies' that take a few photos with promises of work. Chances are you will never here from them again.
